Canary Block coming soon to the WesT Don Lands in Toronto
The Canary Block Condominiums is the newest addition to the 35-acre award-wining Canary District Master Planned Community by Dream Development and Kilmer Van Norstrand Co. Limited. It is the third phase located on Block 16 by Front Street East and Cherry Street in east downtown Toronto, Ontario. Canary Block is a new residential condominium located in the West Don Lands neighbourhood near the new 18-acre Corktown Common Park by the Don River.
Dream Development and Kilmer Van Norstrand are two developers from Toronto that have joined forces that will "bring the visionary Canary District to life". Canary Park Condos is located in the West Don Lands which used to be an industrial area but is now being rebuilt as a mixed-use neighbourhood. This master planned community will feature a "state-of-the-art high-speed broadband network" and the plan will include "people of all ages who want to live, work and play in a vibrant community". This community was "last year's BILD Community of the Year" and also served as the Athlete's Village for the 2015 Toronto Pan/Parapan Am Games.
Canary Block is also located close to the new 18-acre public space known as the Corktown Common Park which was completed in 2013 featuring playground areas, a splash pad, marsh areas, tables, benches, bike paths, and an off-leash dog area as well as green space. It also acts as a "flood barrier for the development".
This neighbourhood has a walk score of 93, a transit score of 97 and a bike score of 100 and is located close to the Gardiner Expressway, the Queens Quay East, Lake Shore Boulevard East and the Don Valley Parkway. It is also situated not too far from the St. Lawrence Market, Woodbine Beach, Ashbridges Bay and Cherry Beach.
